JARRAH HONEY
Western Australian honey is known internationally for its great taste and clean, natural production environment.
One of the honey varieties unique to Western Australia is the increasingly popular Jarrah honey that comes from Jarrah trees growing deep within the protected native forests of Western Australia. Like Manuka honey, Jarrah honey has a distinct and pleasant flavour and unusually strong antibacterial properties. However Jarrah honey is truly exceptional because it is 2 to 3 times higher in antioxidants than Manuka and therefore has many health benefits.
Jarrah honey has very special properties that have been scientifically proven and the honey has gained a reputation as a healing honey thanks to its unique combination of antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
Beekeepers in Western Australia have reported that demand for natural Jarrah honey, especially in China, has increased to such an extent that they predict Jarrah honey will soon overtake the position of Manuka honey thanks to its healing properties.
Our Jarrah Honey offers what consumers are looking for most: high quality natural products that are produced in green pristine environments and are sourced directly from trustworthy beekeepers.

We have the capacity to supply large volumes of Jarrah honey under our GreenBee Honey brand.
Jarrah honey is produced by healthy bees collecting nectar from the flowers of the Jarrah tree (eucalyptus marginata), a tree unique to Western Australia. In Western Australia Jarrah Honey is collected by experienced beekeepers from beehives that are placed deep within protected ancient forests. This honey is prized for its natural flavours and healing properties. The honey is very smooth and has a pleasant caramel flavour. The honey releases sugars slowly into the digestive systems and is very easy to digest. Jarrah honey has an extremely high microbial activity when compared with other leading honeys. This makes Jarrah natures alternative to antibiotics. Jarrah is used on wounds to clean infections and as a result is known in Western Australia as the world’s ‘Healing Honey’. When lightly applied to sun burns, Jarrah has been proven to relieve pain and quicken the recovery process.
Jarrah honey promotes a sense of well-being and wellness. It is the only honey that can be eaten by diabetics due to its slow release of sugars. Jarrah Honey mixed with warm Green Tea is a natural energy booster.
Why is this Jarrah Honey so special?
Jarrah honey has been thoroughly researched by the Department of Agriculture and Food Research in Western Australia and some of the special properties of this very special honey are provided below:
Hydrogen Peroxide as Active Compound
Unlike Manuka honey which is very popular in New Zealand, Jarrah honey contains a natural hydrogen peroxide compound that creates a winning combination of delicious sweetness, antimicrobial effectiveness and an infinite shelf life. This compound, when applied to the face gives a lightening effect.
Low Glycaemic and Low Glucose
Low Glycaemic foods are known to reduce insulin response in the body and improve the blood cholesterol level. This is particularly important as one gets older. Low glucose foods are mildly sweet and gives Jarrah honey an infinite shelf life. This means that Jarrah will never crystallize even after thousands of years.
High Fructose
Fructose is absorbed more slowly and evenly than glucose. This means that it is perfect for endurance training and diabetics. . There is even evidence by the creators of the Hibernation Diet -Mike and Stuart McInnes that foods with high fructose content such as Jarrah help to burn fat while you sleep while also increasing energy levels and stamina.
High in Anti-Oxidants
Due to its high anti-oxidant levels Jarrah honey supports skin cell renewal, stimulates collagen and elastin production and stimulates protein production for wrinkle smoothing, collagen building and acne fighting. The anti-aging properties of Jarrah honey based cleansers and toners leave the skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. According to the National Cancer Institute of Australia, foods with high antioxidant levels fight free radicals that attack healthy cells and fight acne.
TA Level
Honey’s anti-microbial quality is measured by the term “Total Activity (TA)”. The higher the Total Activity, the more active its antimicrobial strength. The anti-bacterial activity of the honey is derived via natural enzymes in the honey. Honey with a Total Activity of 15+ can be used to treat wounds, burns and skin infections. This treatment becomes increasingly effective as the TA level increases.
Our GreenBee Jarrah honey has a TA level of 20+. Supplies of Jarrah honey with a TA level of 30 are available.
